Emsculpt vs Liposuction: Which is Right for You?

When it comes to achieving our top shape, it may be as simple as diet and exercise. For some, however, just diet and exercise cannot help you achieve the body shape you have always wanted. Fortunately, we provide a variety of treatments that can help remove unwanted fat tissue that has not reduced through normal diet and exercise. The most popular procedures include Emsculpt and liposuction, but they may not be for everyone. Here is what to know about the two different procedures:

Emsculpt

When potential patients are specifically looking to tone up their current muscles, Emsculpt may be the procedure you need. Emsculpt works by using electromagnetic waves to increase your metabolism and force the muscles in your body to contract. In fact, one Emsculpt procedure has the same effect as over 20,000 sit-ups in your gym. Emscuplt sessions can be completed in as short as half an hour and it is recommended to have two to four treatments within three days of each other for maximum results. Patients report no down time for Emsculpt, with the only feeling being muscle tightening in the treated areas. While Emsculpt can tone muscles and reduce fat tissue in the treatment area, it cannot achieve significant weight loss. Potential patients are advised to be close to their ideal BMI before starting Emsculpt.

Liposuction

Liposuction has achieved incredible advancements over the years, making it even more accessible to those in need. Liposuction can be provided through a variety of procedures including tumescent liposuction. This technique involves making small incisions in the treatment area and removing fat tissue through a small cannula. Unlike Emsculpt, which works by targeting muscle tissue through contractions, tumescent liposuction physically removes the unwanted fat tissue. Liposuction requires additional downtime for recovery with patients wearing compression garments to avoid blood clots. While local anesthesia is used during the procedure, patients may need to take over the counter pain relievers to maintain comfort during this recovery period. If you are looking to remove fat tissue in stubborn areas, liposuction may be the treatment of choice for you.
