Big Breasts Are Over!

Just a few years ago, large breasts were very popular. Models seemed to increase their breast size nearly monthly and boob jobs were very, very popular as women sought to increase the size of their breasts.

However, that is over. New figures are being released on an almost daily basis that indicate that breast augmentation has dropped in popularity. Some studies indicate that nearly 20 percent fewer women are choosing breast enlargement than last year. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, from 2007 to 2008, there was an 11 percent drop in the number of breast augmentations, with an additional 2 percent drop in 2009. Additionally, a slight increase in the number of breast reductions has been seen.

Even celebrity role models are going back to smaller and more natural looking boobs. Every day, women are downsizing their once abundant chests for a more realistic figure. With celebrities taking the lead, the average woman is following.

Reasons for This Change

There are several reasons for this change. One opinion for this change is that fashion changes are driving the numbers. It used to be “in” for women to sport large breasts and an abundance of cleavage. In the 50s, larger breasts were popular. They came back in fashion during the 80s and 90s as well.

One reason for this change toward smaller breasts is that women are now more athletic and physically fit, and many women feel that larger breasts interfere with their exercise or sport routines. They want to be able to wear a sports bra or other similar athletic clothing.

Implants also carry risks that many women do not want to endure, including shifting of the implants or even a rupture of the device.

Fat Transfer as an Alternative

Fat transfer breast augmentation is a relatively new cosmetic procedure that can offer women fuller breasts without the unrealistic look and feel. Many women seek to increase the volume, say from an A to a B cup, for many reasons and just don’t want a huge increase.

A fat transfer augmentation entails fat cells being transferred from a body area that has excess fat to the breasts. The fat is removed via a liposuction procedure, processed and then injected into the breasts.

The benefits of this procedure are numerous, including no risk of rejection or allergic reaction, and an overall natural look and feel.

Dr. Thomas Wright of the Laser Lipo and Vein Center says, “I encourage anyone who is interested in this exciting procedure to call us to day to schedule a consultation where we will discuss the benefits of this wonderful breast augmentation method.”
